Tossing Mine

After reading the responses regarding the silicone bakeware, I decided to give it a try. I have a fancy bundt type pan. Only half of the cake came out, the other half I had to dig out. The pan is going to the dump - TODAY!

Real or Fake?

With quality 100% silicone bakeware you should not have the problems with batter sticking. The filler plastics in some cheaper silicone moulds is what causes baked goods to stick. Twist the bakeware and look for white "stress lines" - these are the giveaway for poor quality silicone. read more silicone bakeware tips here

If you use silicone bakeware for crafts

such as soap, candles, plaster crafts, etc., please do NOT re-use them for baking foods.

I ordered my bakeware from a catalogue and didn't receive directions. How long do I bake? Is it the same as on the cake box directions? Thank you!

Friendship cake ruined

I have been making friendship cake for 30 years and this year with silicone bake pans it was a disaster! The cake should take 60-75 minutes to bake and it was burned black on the bottom in 40 minutes. A month of preparation down the drain. The silicone pans are going in the garbage!

It is not the problem with the silicon

Hi all..I would like to share with you guys my experiences..I'm actually using silicon mould to bake cheesecakes, when the batter is thick, it comes out sticking all over the mould. But I realise that if my batter is more watery, the cheesecake comes off with a nice shape! Isn't it the problem with the batter? Ps: I did oil the mould lightly and sparingly. But sometimes when i forgot to oil it, it comes off nicely too. So i do not think its about the oiling part too.

Bakeware

What will take off build up on the bakeware which leaves dark spots on bakeware?
—Guest Candie Lyons

silicone or not

I have just baked some cup cakes, the ones in the individual containers OK, the ones in the 12 mini cakes all stuck to the bottome [2nd time for me] so out that goes, this is the third time they have stuck, same brand, so no idea as to the difference. I think I would rather have paper cups after all. Sorry to those of you who swear by them. PK Aust.
