The Oreck XL21 is equipped with IntellaShield Technology™ to provide continuous protection from harmful bacteria and annoying odors, including those from pets. That means that while vacuuming, you're also protecting your home from bacteria that promotes mold, mildew and other allergens. Microban® is the bacteria-fighting agent used to neutralize microbes and render them harmless as they come into contact with the roller brush, handle and base plate. Design Features & Ease of Handling:
When it comes to exterior design, Oreck uprights haven't changed much. But this has a positive benefit when it comes to ease of handling and storing. With less bulk and weighing only 9 pounds, it's easy to handle, carry and you can even lay it flat and slide it under a bed. The low-profiled power head easily goes under furniture and cabinets. Hypo-Allergenic Bag Filtration:
The Oreck XL21 has increased allergen filtration with the Lifetime HEPA filtration system and 4-layer outer bag plus a 4-layer odor-control inner bag which combined, provides 8 layers of hypo-allergenic filtration to eliminate 99.99 percent of allergens down to .3 microns, such as pet hair, dust, pollen, mold spores and dust mites. The inner bag has a self-sealing system for further containment so allergens aren't released back into your home.
Power Performance:
Oreck's uprights have high-speed roller brushes in the power head that, when coupled with strong suction, provides great pick-up of things that loom in carpets such as dust, pet hair, bacteria and dirt. The Microsweep™ system allows it to auto-adjust from bare floor to carpet and brushes will not burr or scratch bare floors. The tips of the brushes have a patented chevron design to pick up dirt and not the carpet, and the Thread Guard prevents long hair or string from getting wrapped. According to Oreck, the XL's are designed to be energy efficient and use 1/3 of the electricity used by most uprights.
