Guide Review - Shark VX3 Sweeper With Backsaver Handle Review
At first, I thought the Shark VX3 was way too light for any serious cleaning, but the more I use it, the more I like it. Features I like most include the folding handle - it allows a long reach under beds without bending, and it works a long time on one charge. After almost a month of occasional use to clean the entrance rug of sawdust from the shop and gravel from the road, wood chips from the woodstove area and general dirt and crumbs, it hasn't yet needed to be recharged.
As far as handling, it maneuvers extremely well due to the swivel design and the low profile allows access to the bottom area of cabinets. It seems to work fine on either carpets or bare floors and the dirt bin is large enough so it doesn't require emptying too often. When emptying, it must be right over the waste receptacle because the dirt just drops out.
It has enough power, which was evident when it picked up gravel and wood chips without any problem. However, I found that it picks up dirt better in forward motion. When pulled in reverse, it seems to be more selective and less prone to holding what it picks up. But the swivel feature makes it easy to retrace steps if required.
I think the Shark VX3 is great for touch-ups before company arrives or to keep certain areas clean, but it wouldn't replace regular vacuuming. I did find myself reaching for it often instead of a broom, to keep the kitchen and other areas tidy. Due to the lightweight nature and ease of carrying it from one floor to another, it would be ideal for seniors or children to use for a quick cleaning.
