Can Vacuuming Harm My Carpet

Question: Can Vacuuming Harm My Carpet
Can vacuuming harm or wear out my carpet.
Answer: No, vacuuming regularly or more often than average, will not wear out your carpet. Carpets are designed to be vacuumed and need the suction power to lift and raise the fibers to remove the dirt from deep within the layers of carpeting. Vacuuming will ensure dirt, dander and debris are removed while lifting fibers to give your carpet a fresh clean look.

Occasional sweeping may remove dust and dirt from the surface, but will not remove deep down dirt which can entangle carpet fibers giving it a matted look. Accumulated dirt can also cause unpleasant odors to be present and food crumbs can attract unwanted pests. Bits of sand and fine gravel can also breakdown fibers if not removed with regular vacuuming.

That being said, you should however vacuum with care. If your carpet has long looped fibers, you should vacuum carefully to avoid catching and pulling them out of the carpet. Long carpet strands which have become detached could also be caught in power bar rollers. These should be cut or trimmed as they are noticed.
