According to Whirlpool, the Duet Sport HT Washer uses up to 60% less water which is a savings of about 22 gallons of water per load than traditional washers, and up to 72% less energy. This model also has a delay start of up to 8 hours, which enables you to delay washing to energy saving off-peak times. Energy Guide Rating is 152 kwhs per year.

Comparison to Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer WFW8300S:
The HT WFW8500S has a few enhanced features when compared to the WFW8300S Washer, such as capacity, better energy guide ratings, additional washing and temperature cycles, and a built-in water heater for certain cycles.
Both models have great energy and water conservation features and high efficiency washing cycles.
Another key difference is that the 8500S is designed for installation with a choice of two sizes of optional pedestals and the 8300S is designed for only the 10" pedestal.
