Guide Review - Chicago Cutlery Landmark Edition 3 Pc Asian Knife Set
The Chicago Cutlery 3 pc Asian Knife Set was most impressive - right out of the box. With a sleek styling and high-carbon stainless steel, I could see the sharpness in the blade before even removing it from its nest. The Asian Set consists of a 7" Santoku knife and a 5" Partoku™ knife nested in a handy black woodfibre box that's perfect for gift giving and knife storage. What makes these Landmark™ Edition knives stand out from all the rest? The Exclusive Taper Grind™ Edge of the Santoku knife gives it a very sharp edge that's easy to resharpen. Another key feature is the sleek stainless steel full-tang handle design with a polymer insert. I found that the poly material reduces the coldness associated with stainless steel knives and adds grip and comfort. These knives feel very comfortable, well-balanced and smooth in the hand.
Even with a small hand, I found the 7" Santoku easy to control and this blade design is great for chopping, slicing and dicing. But my favorite of the two is the 5" Partoku - it's just so much more than a paring knife and I love the size of it. It's a mix between a santoku and a paring knife, excellent for dicing, slicing and chopping. Slicing cheese is easy with this knife - the hollow ovals help to release the food and the wide blade makes it easy to slice evenly.
The main difference between these two knives? The Santoku is larger and has a curved blade edge, while the Partoku has a straight edge which is handy for picking up chopped vegetables from the cutting board. Each knife is unique yet similar in purpose and versatility.
