Pampered Chef's My Safe Cutter is a toddler knife that is sold either online or through home parties. I bought this knife thinking it would be a safe alternative when my little granddaughter insists on having her own knife. It's perfectly safe for a toddler but will she want to use it and is it worth the price.

Product Description

  • Pampered Chef - My Safe Cutter - Model 2904 toddler knife
  • 6-1/2" long
  • Stainless non-sharp blade
  • Plastic red handle
  • MSRP $5.00

How it Performed & Overall Impression

August 19, 2009 This knife is perfectly safe, although it looks like it has a serrated edge, the stepped edge has absolutely no sharpness to it. It fits a toddler's hand well and washes up easily.

My granddaughter loves the knife and when it's time to sit down to eat, she goes to the drawer and finds it - easy, because the handle is red. With it, she can cut through soft potatoes, pasta, pancakes and other foods. It will not cut through most meats or hard foods, nor is it designed to. We have to pre-cut those food items for her.

This little knife is worth every penny. It gives the child a knife of their own like everyone else, allows practice on how to hold and use a knife, yet you don't have to worry at all. The blade is not long - another safety feature. It grows with the child, even the 4 and 5-year olds want to use it. It's also a good play dough tool.

There are some other toddler knives on the market which appear similar to this model, but I do recommend the Pampered Chef My Safe Cutter if you're looking for a non-sharp, safe knife.
