I enjoy loose tea, but my favorite blends are very difficult to stuff into a tea ball and cramming does not allow water to circulate to properly steep the tea. The IngenuiTEA Teapot looks like the solution. Read on to learn how it works.

How the IngenuiTEA Teapot Performed

January 3, 2012
I have to admit that plastic for a teapot is not my favorite choice of materials, but using this teapot for a few brews, has won me over. With a comfortable handle, removable lid and easy to use set-up, the IngenuiTEA Teapot is the solution to brewing loose tea leaves. With this little teapot, you can use whatever amount of tea leaves you want - there's no restrictions like most tea balls or filters. Steep as long as you want and then release the tea to your cup of choice. Leaves stay in the bottom of the teapot and can easily be discarded.

Many of my favorite tea blends are large leafed varieties and I often bypass them for finer leaves, because I find that steeping is hindered when the water cannot circulate properly through the tea ball. This is definitely the solution to better steeping of loose leaf tea. As for the valve release, there was no leaking while it sat steeping or while dispensing and I used various sizes of cups under this teapot. I like the capacity - two cups is very convenient.

Cleaning the leaves out is fairly easy because the lid is removable, but be careful not to use a utensil which could damage the metal mesh. If that does happen, you can get replacement filters for this teapot. Because the IngenuiTEA is microwavable, this little teapot is ideal for use while traveling or for making a pot of tea to enjoy at your desk, where a kettle might not be handy.

Overall Impression

The IngenuiTEA is the answer to brewing loose tea. It's much more convenient than using a regular teapot, where you would also need a tea ball or filter. And this teapot is especially handy for brewing tea from large leaves. With a valve design to easily release steeped tea to a cup, dispensing is drip-free and easy.

This teapot is also very lightweight for those with problem hands. It would also be very light to pack in a suitcase for those weekend trips. You can also steep tea as usual and dispense to a cup filled with ice, for homemade iced tea. While the IngenuiTEA is designed for loose tea brewing, you can also use it with bagged teas.

A good design and tea infuser made of food-grade plastics at an affordable price point makes this the ideal teapot choice for the tea lover. It's also a great gift idea as a hostess gift or gift for $20 or less.
