Guide Review - Hot Kitchen & Home Collectibles 30's, 40's, 50's by C. Dianne Zweig
Expecting to find several color photos in this book, I was amazed to find that all 288 pages in this book include color and are printed on premium glossy paper. Photos and illustrations are high quality and there is substantial trivia and historical data included in each section. The author candidly shares her childhood memories of visits to her grandma's house. It takes the boomer reader down memory lane. If you're not already a collector of kitchenware and home collectibles, you may well aspire to be one after reading this book. You'll learn such things as the history of dime stores, when aprons were fashionable, when the first cake batter mixer was introduced, when Pyrex Ovenware and Tupperware became popular and when Samson introduced their Super-Top Card Table. There are old advertisements denoting vintage prices and the author shares approximate values for many of the housewares and collectibles featured in this book. Topic coverage includes figurines, nursery items, patterns, textiles and more.
Easy reading, delightful pictures and heartwarming trivia makes this book not only a great resource for collectors, but a pleasure for anyone to enjoy. A great gift book!
