Natural Linen Celebrity Table Runner

Quality natural linen kitchen items are hard to find; most kitchen linens in the market are more of a polyester blend. For this reason, I was eager to see (and feel) first hand, these Lithuanian natural linen products. Two items were reviewed: The Natural Linen Celebrity Table Runner and assorted linen/cotton tea towels.

LinenMe Natural Linen Celebrity Table Runner - Review

The Celebrity Table Runner immediately took me back in time to my mother's kitchen and parlor, where carefully pressed table linens such as these were proudly displayed and used. The look of this LinenMe table runner is definitely classic and the design traditional. The natural linen texture feels wonderful. It's finished with a hemstitch detail that to me resembles a mix of eyelet and fine crochet and is definitely what gives this particular table runner an elegant and vintage look. I just love how it displays on my table.

The Celebrity Table Runner is 100% natural linen, machine washable and 16" x 59" in size. This length provides a nice drop on each end of my 42" table. LinenMe also makes this linen table runner in a 79" length, which would be more suitable for a larger table. As with the rest of LinenMe linen products, it is made in Lithuania.

LinenMe Linen and Cotton Blend Tea Towels - Review

LinenMe Linen/Cotton Tea Towels

The feel of these LinenMe tea towels also took me back a bit. I had forgotten how much better natural linen/cotton absorbs water when drying dishes, than some of the poly blends sold today. They dried dishes well, leaving no lint residue, especially noticeable on glassware. The tea towels are available in a variety of blue on white patterns and are 19" x 28" in size. LinenMe does have more variety in colors and patterns of tea towels.

They are made of 53% linen and 47% cotton, have a small sewed-in loop for hanging and look lovely, especially when well pressed. You can also use one of these tea towels inside a bun basket to loosely wrap hot rolls - though LinenMe does make much prettier bread napkins for that purpose.

The size of the LinenMe tea towels is average and comparable to other brands which is adequate for drying dishes, but I'd love to see even larger ones sold. I mostly handwash and dry dishes and cookware so I've come to really appreciate larger tea towels. These tea towels did shrink slightly when washed, which was expected. You can expect some shrinkage when washing any natural linen or cotton kitchen linens - that's normal. Washing in cold water and drying with a lower heat, can usually help to reduce shrinkage.

Overall Impression

After years of using poly-blend (no iron) kitchen linens, these LinenMe items definitely are a breath of fresh air. Though pure linen as well as linen/cotton blends do require more care and effort (ironing), the quality, look and feel are well worth the effort. These linens are also more durable than the regular run-of-the-mill type of kitchen lines. These linen items have earned full rating because the quality, care and natural materials are evident. They also perform and display well. Quality kitchen linens are an ideal choice for special occasion gifts such as for weddings, wedding showers or personal gift-giving. Items such as the Natural Linen Table Runner featured, would make a nice heirloom.

More About the Company - LinenMe

The LinenMe® brand is fairly young, having launched its online presence in 2007, but its roots and expertise goes much further, back to Lithuania where LinenMe products are still manufactured today. They also have a showroom in the US at:
222 Merchandise Mart Plaza,
Suite 1524A,
Chicago, IL 60654, USA

I found their small catalog very impressive and according to the company, they are continually expanding their line of products as well as natural fibers, which now includes woolen items. Currently, they carry such items as table linens, bed linens, throws and blankets, bathroom linens and even a clothing line and fabrics. For those not familiar with natural fibers, natural linen or cotton bedding will keep you cool and comfortable (less sweating), much better than any poly blend.

Some other LinenMe items that caught my eye but were not tested include the Ecru Linen Bread Napkin with fancy hemstitch detail and the nice assortment of elegant-looking table linens. You can check out the full inventory at LinenMe.com.
