Guide Review - Trudeau Garlic Press Duo Review Model 990003
July 18, 2010
The ability to mince or slice garlic in the same tool is what first attracted me to this Trudeau Garlic Press. This tool is built on the standard garlic press format with some added hand comfort features, a heavier construction and good balance. But it's the duo function that really sets it apart from other garlic presses. It's also nicer looking than most. Construction is durable - heavy zinc with an easy-to-clean chrome finish and Trudeau backs this tool with a 5-year warranty - that's impressive.
Operation is fairly easy - add one or two garlic cloves to either of the two recesses (slice or mince) and press. This tool is very effective and quick - the insert between the two recesses aids in pushing the sliced or minced garlic through. To get at the recessed area after pressing, you can use the tab (on the top) or just flip the insert to the other side to access. If your garlic cloves are small, you may be able to press more than a couple at a time. I really like the non-slip cushioned grip.
As for cleaning, like any garlic press it should be cleaned immediately after use. This tool does clean up nicely and garlic residue (mess) is minimal. A small stiff brush works best to get all the residue out of the blades. This is the best garlic press I've used - no gimmicks just solid consistent operation.
