Vintage Plates - Making Use of Antique Dessert Plates

Vintage dinnerware like this beautiful English Grindley Fragrant Rose plate can still be displayed and enjoyed, even if you only have one piece of the set. Unfortunately, I often see people discard single vintage plates because they don't see any purpose in keeping one or two pieces of a pattern. For this reason you can often find similar old plates at yard sales for only a few pennies.

You can collect several antique plates in various patterns and display them on a hutch, plate rail or hang them on the dining room wall for a nostalgic country decor. One or an assortment of old dessert plates can even be used to elegantly serve baking to your guests. You'll enjoy the admiration and conversation these vintage pieces will stir.

Old dinnerware does not need to be bone china to be collectible. Patterns that are no longer available but still very delightful to own and display will add charm to your buffet and home.

When buying old plates, check that there are no cracks or chips on front and back of the plate. And remember to handwash old plates as these beautiful patterns can wear off from harsh dishwasher detergent.
