Guide Review - Crock-Pot Touchscreen 6.5 Qt Programmable Slow Cooker SCVT650-PS Review

The Touchscreen SCVT650-PS Programmable Slow Cooker is very impressive. I love the seamless stainless finish - it's so easy to keep clean and fingerprints have not been a problem. Handles on this crock-pot are constructed of metal with a silicone wrap, making them sturdier and safer than previous Rival models.

The black crock-pot liner washes much better and doesn't leave a white residue or cloud like some other models I've used. The programmable feature is digital, easy to set and you can choose the hours or minutes on each temperature setting. Once it auto-switches to Warm, it counts down from 4 hours so you can see how long food has been kept warm. You do have to turn the slow cooker off and back on again, to change from High to Low settings, but I do love being able to select the amount of time I want.

The digital touch controls do make it easier to keep the front clean, but as with any appliance digital controls, they can be difficult to see in a well-lit area. It's a small trade-off for the clean look and touch control convenience.

As for performance, it cooked very well and I love the slightly larger 6.5 Qt Crock-pot size which was adequate for a 3 to 4 lb meatloaf or whole chicken. The Touchscreen comes with a recipe booklet that includes handy tips. My favorites from the recipe booklet: Lemon Roasted (Whole) Chicken and the All American Meat Loaf - two meal items I don't usually cook in a slow cooker, but they came out more tender and moist than with oven roasting. However, you do have to occasionally remove grease from the bottom during cooking.

It's a pleasure to cook with the Touchscreen™ and it's easy to keep it clean.
