The dispensing feature of the BrewStation makes it easy to grab a coffee on the go - that's a big hit with most. This new model has a removable water reservoir, which simplifies set-up. I was most anxious to give this a try.

How the BrewStation Performed

December 1st, 2012
It's been awhile since I used a BrewStation® and had forgotten how wonderful a dispensing feature is, especially if you have arthritic hands. And I do love the new design with the removable water reservoir, making it much better for filling. No need to have to peer down into a dark recess, just remove, fill and replace; it's much quicker. There's a nice built-in handle on this reservoir - something most removable tanks do not have. The programmable feature works well and is reasonably easy to operate. The brew options are very good.

As for coffee, it makes a hot brew and does keep it hot during the auto-warm period you chose (0-4 hrs). Coffee flavor was good on regular, but much better on bold and we did seem to use more coffee to achieve the taste we prefer. The Iced Coffee setting works well and handy when you want to make a full batch. You add ice to the coffee tank, use less water and double the coffee grounds. The unit turns off after brewing is complete when using the Iced Coffee setting. The BrewStation® design lends very well to using any size cup including a large travel mug, which is handy for those on the go.

During brewing, the unit is somewhat quieter than some. However, the keep warm cycle is noisier than expected as the heater keeps coffee hot. I've checked with the manufacturer and this is normal for this model. This warming noise is certainly different from other BrewStations I've tried in the past and can get annoying if you let it. For this reason, I selected a shorter 2-hour keep warm setting, which is ample for us. Coffee is hot and tastes good for about an hour after which, it does get that old coffee taste.

Overall Impression and Related Resources

The removable reservoir BrewStation does have some worthwhile features, easier handling/filling and makes good hot coffee. Of course, the dispensing aspect is its best feature overall, giving you that grab-and-go convenience. If hearing the warming setting isn't a concern for you, you'll enjoy the easier filling, setting up and love the dispensing feature of this brewer. Price is very good for a programmable full-featured brewer.
