What is a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and how does it apply to air cleaners? Who certifies these products and why is a good CADR rating important?
The CADR seal of an appliance is usually shown on the product packaging and it includes three numbers, one for tobacco smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. The higher the rating for each - the better. The higher the number - the faster the appliance filters the air.
For best efficiency, AHAM recommends you choose a unit that has a cigarette smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of your room area. Learn more about AHAM's CADR rating and how it applies to air cleaners in AHAM and CADR Certification
