Many dishwasher models have an energy-saving setting for washing as well as for drying. That could be a shorter wash cycle and an air dry setting - both of which save energy, or something similar.

A delay-start is also a good feature if you're on time-of-use (TOU) electricity rates, because you can set to wash dishes during lower rate periods. Even a shorter cycle can save energy if dishes are not very dirty.

Start with an Energy Star qualified dishwasher, but look for other energy-saving features too. Learn more about buying a dishwasher.
