With so many of us using zone heaters these days to cut down on energy costs, a heated throw can provide that warm and cozy environment at the personal level, where you need it most. Warmth can also help you relax from everyday stresses, as well as provide soothing relief for some aches and pains. Whatever the reason, a warm throw is really comfortable.

Sunbeam makes several brands of heated throws as well as other heated bedding. I tested their Slumber Rest LofTec Heated Throw and found it very comfy. Though you can't bunch up a heated throw like you would an unheated one, this warm cover still provides much-needed comfort. Note that a standard of care is advisable for heated throws. They're also not ideal for everyone as noted by the manufacturer.

Read more about Sunbeam's Loftec Heated Throw in my review and find out what makes this a cozy wrap for those cool evenings.

I just bought a Sunbeam heated throw this past weekend and am very pleased by how comfortable these are! Even the low setting is pretty warm. The only thing I could suggest for improvement is that the length of the cord to the hand control would be just a few inches longer.

With this throw, I can keep my thermostat even lower than I already had it set and still be comfortable when I am reading, stitching, or watching TV.

How does it work? Is it like a heated blanket?

A heated throw uses similar technology as a heated blanket. There is a series of wires through the fabric and you have a variable controller. The Sunbeam heated throws and blankets have auto shut-offs. Blankets are great for preheating the bed; throws can make a couch more comfy and provide some heat for lounging.
