Absolutely false.
I have always found a turkey to be very easy to roast, mostly foolproof and very affordable. In terms of left-overs, there's lots you can do with a turkey; it gives you excellent value for the cost. And while I used to add a bread stuffing to my turkey, the last few years I have made a slow cooker dressing and it's just as good.

I've also cooked a turkey in a gas-operated Char-Broil the Big Easy Outdoor Oiless Turkey Fryer. Though different, it was very good and cooking with no oil was safe and fret-free. Read review.
My current favorite way to roast a turkey is in a Nesco Classic Roaster Oven. You prepare it the same as when roasting in a traditional oven, but using a portable unit allows you to cook it away from the high-traffic kitchen triangle. And that frees your regular oven for bread, baking, vegetables or other holiday dishes. Read review.
