Tip of the Week: Cut Phantom Power and Save Money

So many of our electrical appliances, electronics, tools and other devices consume phantom power while they 'sleep', but this energy can really add up on your electricity bill over a month.  For those devices that you cannot turn completely off, group them if possible into a UL certified surge-protected power strip, and then turn that bar off when these are not in use, or you want to protect them during a lightning storm.

Though there is no guarantee that a surge-protected power bar will absolutely protect your electronics during a storm, it just might help.  But  it does enable you to turn these things off in one step to save money in energy costs.
