What to do With Those Unwanted Gifts

Tuesday January 6, 2009
Now that the holiday buzz is past it's time to find a place for all those gifts, even the ones you're not too delighted with. This is the perfect time to be pro-active and make decisions as to whether you'll re-gift those items, donate them or exchange with friends. If it's something suitable for re-gifting, you need to store it properly so the packaging doesn't deteriorate. These Re-Gifting Rules will explain what not to do when re-gifting. And keep in mind that new appliances or kitchenware items could be re-gifted as wedding or shower gifts through the year, not just for holiday giving.

If you're wondering what to do with your old working appliances after receiving new ones, consider donating them to a local charity or taking them to a ReStore in your vicinity. ReStores are operated by Habitat for Humanity and there may be an outlet in your area. Items donated are re-sold and funds are used to further their home-building initiatives.
