if you reviewed this product and find that it is worth the money then you must be on the payrol from the sylvania company. I have bought the product and find that it is the last one I will buy from them. 1) from the begining, controls are not user friendly, and 2 it takes anywhere from 2 to 3 times longer to heat items than my older microwave of same size and power could do.

(3) Housewares Guide says:

As far as I know, there have been no recalls on this microwave.

In responding to the comment that I must be on the manufacturer’s payroll – I’m not!
I purchased and still own this microwave and find it much faster than my previous .5 cu model. With some preset cooking controls and push button digital – I find it very user friendly.

We own a Sylvania Microwave that has a date of May 2006 on bottom. Has vents on top instead of side or back. Was in a camper when purchased. Microwave has burning / melting plastic smell when used – does not work at all. Need recall info or guarantee information as Camper Dealer refuses to honor this less than 1 year old purchase.
Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hi Trish,
I haven’t found any recalls on Sylvania microwaves. That is most unfortunate that your RV micro does not work and the dealer will not provide any relief. Sylvania microwaves have a one year warranty, so you would not be able to obtain a warranty repair. But it may be worth your while to take it to an appliance repair service in your area to see if it can be repaired. It would be wise to get an estimate before approving repairs as these could cost more than buying a replacement microwave.

This microwave performed reasonably well for three years but self destructed yesterday. I’m not sure what happened but it started to melt the inside of the door when used.

Used the microwave for about 2 years . I find hat the paint has peeled off on the inner roof of the machine and has now got spots of rust. Time to throw it away. However I feel that the paint used has NOT been OF ANY HIGH QALITY STANDARD.Suggest that this should be Improved, otherwise it has workd quite well.

I work at a RV repair facility and I am trying to get a hold of Sylvania to find out where there is an authorized service center in our area for my customer. I know that the microwave has only a one year warranty, but I also know that they will pay for parts for 6 years but no one will answer any of my questions when I call Sylvania. Does anyone have a consumer number that I can try?

Have a Sylvania microwave in my RV. Used it about ten times now it smells like something is burning when we use it .Removed it and looked on the back and it is made in China. I will buy nothing made by Sylavania.

(10) Bill says:

I have to agree with what Chuck Dilley states…I will also NEVER buy anything by Sylvania!!! I have an RV micro/convection oven model and I’ve spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get anyone––ANYONE to want to even try to help. I think the word is out there that getting customer service for any Sylvania micro product is a BIG JOKE!!!

Although my oven hasn’t started to melt or smell like burning plastic, I would appreciate if anyone can help me with a lead on obtaining a replacement glass turntable plate for my unit. You’d think I was searching for the Holy Grail or the Arc of the Covenant or something. This is truly absurd and the true level of irritation cannot be expressed in words!!!!!

I am also looking for a glass plate for a Sylvania Microwave from an RV. Not having much luck either. Does anybody have an answer for this?

(13) Stacey says:

We have a Sylvania in our RV that we bought in January of this year, however the unit is a 2008. I wondered if anyone else was having the same issues that we are – when we plug in the RV and open the microwave door, the light comes on dimmly and the plate starts to turn slowly. The microwave will also not work. The air conditioning works, the GFI’s all work, we are plugged in correctly etc. The RV dealership tried it and it works fine. Next step is to unscrew it, bring it in the house and test it.

We have a 2008 5th wheel with a sylvania microwave. Can’t use it with the A/C on as it blows breakers and the microwave is hotter than hell. I’m afraid it’s going to catch on fire. Were looking for another microwave. Not Sylvania.

(15) Garry says:

Same Problem bought new 2008 RV, with the Sylvania SC-11100 Model Convection Microwave. RV was lightly used Less than 45 days of camping. Always used a surge protector and nothing else has blown on the Rig. Found numbers and talked to a person at the Canadian Sylvaina 1800 number. (Turns out the person who answered was in Indiana). Sylvania does not make this model http://www.galanz.com/ does. Called the number the very nice lady gave me. The mail box is full so I can’t leave the message that they ask me to. I bet it has been full for a long long time. I did get a number for a local repair shop (but why bother) It is junk Sylvania should be ashamed and from the sound of the other comments it is just a matter of time before a tragedy occurs.

(16) Fran says:

Purchased a 2009 5th wheel trailer from top of the line manufacturer.
Trailer has a Sylvania microwave oven, Model SR-11092B/SR.
First time we used the microwave it leaked condensate inbetween the door glass.
To me this would indicate a leakage of radiation which could be very dangerous.
Contacted the trailer manufacturer and they said that as long as it is heating they can’t do anything about this problem.
Tried to contact Sylvania and had no luck.
Trailer manufacturer said that they are no longer using Sylvania products in their new models. It is no wonder why.

Any help would be appreciated.

Our microwave is in an RV and works great…model SC-11100. However we need to replace the glass plate. Anyone know how to order it? But we will NEVER buy a sylvania tv, it worked only long enough for the warranty to expire.

I was given a sylvania microwave as a gift and it worked TWO months. Sylvania microwave model P70D20AL-D5 1200wts manug June 2007. This is the second time that I purchased or was given a product made in China and no one…NO ONE answers the phone. Companies in China do not honor warranties and when you finally do get the company reps here in US they blantly tell you they don’t produce the parts anymore. What will we really do? Call the BBB in the US state? Right..I did. Don’t hold your breath!!! Don’t buy Sylvania Microwaves!
